i attended a trans day of remembrance service for the first time

Contents ~~~~

first christian church of decatur decided to host it. it was eye opening.

this day of remembrance was filmed last november. After a long time away from the internet, i am posting my experience now.

what can i say? it was very sad to listen to all the names being called out of the victims who have passed. i am not trans, but i do have trans friends, so this whole service rings different bells in my head.

I just feel the world would be so much better if we stopped hating people who are different from us.

people shouldnt be killed for being trans. im nonbinary, so i dont conform to typical gender norms. we shouldnt have to live in fear of our lives just because we dont live according to how society says we should live.

i took a long break from the internet after this service.

this service really got me thinking about my own life. i left the internet because my mental illnesses became too much to bear. i also got overwhelmed with the holidays.

everything just kept piling up around me and inside me.

it felt like i was drowning. so i walked away.

these victims are unable to walk away. their loved ones will mourn and mourn. i dunno what to say to that.

i just want peace. i just want happiness. i want to live without fear of being persecuted.

when will those wishes come true?
