sketchbook tour 1 and trying out golden paints for the first time
this is zie first sketchbook tour video type thing. zie has many, many sketchbooks. so let’s take the time to look through this book as it was a christmas gift for zie.

sketching in this book was a true return to form
zie had a lot of fun sketching in this book. but the paper was a weird waxy testure. so zie glued rough watercolor paper (canson xl) on the pages.Â
it’s been awhile since zie worked in an a5 size format. working this way reminded zie that it’s a fun size because it isn’t too large or too small. also, with the book being lightweight, zie was able to happily carry it anywhere.
zie thoughts and initial esperiences with GOLDEN paints
zie was fortunate enough to buy 6 small unused tubes of GOLDEN* paints from scraplanta–a used arts & crafts supply store based in atlanta–for about $7 for the set. after a couple months of being too scared to use them, zie finally decided to give them a try.
what zie thinks of GOLDEN heavy body acrylics:
the paints are good. a little bit goes a long way when using them because the pigments are so super strong. the tubes zie has are about 22ml, so less than an ounce.
you aren’t gonna run out of color anytime soon.
zie does like these paints; zie just thinks they’re overhyped and super espensive. they also have a slight sheen to them. zie prefers a matte finish as it is better for mised media.
zie personally recommends flashe paints* instead. they’re matte, bold in color, and are easier to work with in mised media and collages.

zie hopes you enjoyed this sketchbook tour. zie knows artistes swear by GOLDEN. there’s nothing wrong with the paint, zie just thinks flashe paint is more suitable for zie painting methods.
