i bring out oil paint in order to create some pastel goth works of art 👩🏿‍🎨

it has been months since i painted with oils. i had a lot of fun creating art this week 😁

daniel and i went to go watch alien: romulous. we went to the movie tavern to watch it 👽

i had never been to a movie tavern before. this was my first time going to one. the food was delicious and the movie was great. 🍔🍟

the movie as a whole did feel unfinished, but the ending was good. i did one sketch at the movie theater.

i spend a lotta time prepping some canvases so that i can paint on them.

i paint the edges because painting the edges is my least favorite part of painting on canvas. when i painted with oils a few months ago, i painted the edges first. then i was able to paint on top.

doing it this way was a much better process for me. it relieves my mind knowing that the edges are already done.

the first painting i tried this with was a painting for daniel and tw for their anniversary. the process went so smoothly because the edges were painted first! 👍🏿

i painted a couple owls in my sketchbook. i did this because i want to paint owls on the shelf at church.

i ended up liking the owl i made that is perched rather than the owl in flight. 🦉So i also did a painting of a snowy owl.

in 2013, i created a finger painting of some tulips with a butterfly. i recently found this painting and got inspired.🦋💐

the original finger painting was made during my first year of college. it was the day before finals and the school counselor had an artsy play time on the campus square. i created two finger paintings.

i hadnt seen that painting in years. for some reason, it made me so happy. i remember how stressed i was when i made it. but those stresses are gone now. 🦋

i brought out the oil paint this week. yep. i took my narwhal sketch from the other week and turned it into a full painting.

surprisingly, my oil paints are still wet. i keep them in a paleto garage. i was elated when i realized i didn’t have to replace my colors.

the painting session went really well overall. but i did get scared because for some reason, the paint was peeling off of the canvas. but i layered on top of it and it got better. i did go through a bad ugly stage though. the painting turned out great! 👩🏿‍🎨

community dinner was vegetarian themed. we had vegetarian tacos 🌮

we had guest speakers this time. ruth and canaan have a group called interplay and deeplay. interplay and deeplay are like improv exercises to loosen you up and get to know each other. we did several exercises. it was weird at first but the more we did it, the less awkward it felt.

i drew canaan and ruth. they really liked my drawings and took pictures of me with the art. it made me feel so special.

on sunday, daniel and i went to atlantic station. daniel wanted to go to lather bath provisions

lather bath provisions is one of daniel’s favorite shops. they sell lots of bath and skincare products. daniel got me some handmade peach scented soap. it smells really good.

i had never been to atlantic station before. it was quite the experience. i enjoyed the african shops.

i had a very fun week creating art and going on adventures. i really luv how vibrant my narwhal painting turned out. it is quite beautiful.
